Built in the 11th century, the Château des Ducs de Savoie is an ancient fortified castle in the heart of Chambéry. The building was home to the nine princes of the State of Savoy, as well as a number of government departments. Today, you can visit the medieval wing, which houses a permanent exhibition entitled "The castle, Savoy, ten centuries of history". Guided tours are available for a fee, allowing you to visit the courtyard of the château and the Sainte-Chapelle, featuring trompe-l'œil and ancient stained glass windows.
